Prof. Ilana Doweck, MD, is currently chair of The Department of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, Carmel Medical Center, affiliated to The Bruce Rappaport Faculty of Medicine, Technion, Israel Institute of Technology, Haifa, Israel, and immediate past president of The Israeli Society of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery between 2013 -2019.

Prof Doweck attended The Technion Medical School, Haifa, Israel, and completed her training in Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, at Carmel Medical Center, Haifa. She completed fellowship in Head and Neck Oncologic Surgery at the University of Tennessee, Memphis at 2000, and at The University of Florida, Gainesville, Florida at 2001. Following her fellowship Prof. Doweck joined the Department of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery at Carmel Medical Center, Haifa, leading the head and neck cancer surgery and oncology team in north Israel, and served in multiple roles within the Israeli Society of Head and Neck Surgery and Oncology, including committee member, and scientific secretory. Prof. Doweck received the Feldman scholarship at 2007 for visiting Stanford University Medical School.

In 2008 Prof. Doweck was appointed chair of The Department of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery at Carmel Medical Center. Prof Doweck was elected as the President of The Israeli Society of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, for six years, 2013-2019. She servers as counselor of The Israeli Cancer Association and member of the Scientific Council of the Israel Medical Association.

Prof. Doweck academic focus is on head and neck cancer and oncology, including outcomes based research in head and neck with particular focus on outcome related to organ preservation and chemoardiotherapy, thyroid cancer, metastatic and recurrent, as well as translational research in head and neck cancer, including stem cells in solid tumor and in head and neck cancer, angiogenesis and expression of heparanase in head and neck cancer, Ubiquitin ligase KPC1 and tumor suppression- in head and neck cancer. Prof. Doweck received several awards on her research regarding tumor markers in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma.
